About

Gret Heffernan is a writer and publisher.

I record and publish text as art practice. I’m the author of The Sculptor, Dark Ansley 01, 02, and Nobody, Nowhere, USA, many screenplays, and zines.

I’m the founder of Backlash Press, a non-profit community interest company, and member of art collective Edgeland Modern.

My work has been featured in AGNI, Brittle Star, and A Rabbit’s Foot and longlisted by the BBC. I write fiction, essays, zines, poetry, screenplays, and text art.

I studied poetry at the University of Iowa Writers Workshop, Creative Writing and English Literature at Vermont College, Faber and Faber Academy, and Curtis Brown Creative.

Film Sussex supports my short films, and Arts Council England supports my written work, text art, and press.

I’m currently working towards my PhD in Creative Writing Research at King’s College London.

Purser is my first short film.
